Sumona Chakravarti on misogyny on Kapil Sharma’s show
In a recent conversation with Indian Express, Sumona defended the alleged misogyny on Kapil’s show and addressed rumours of a rift between them. She said, âItâs a show! Itâs a scripted show! What I actually imagine, and Iâve all the time told whoever has questioned me, firstly, itâs just acting. Itâs only a TV show. Kapil isn’t insulting Sumona. Thereâs a difference. Thereâs a personality Bittu and his wife Manju. Itâs literally whatâs happening around in your environment. Yes, thereâs a responsibility, but that involves me as a person in real life. If tomorrow, I get caught shoplifting, in fact that sets a terrible example. But you furthermore mght must have that little little bit of common sense that thereâs a line between real and reel.”
Talking about their fallout, she clarified, âThere was no breakup. We had a beautiful run of 10 years across different networks. Most marriages donât work for 10 years actually (laughs), but our onscreen one did. Yearly, weâd take a break around June-July. We finished our season. I actually donât know. The last time we were on Sony, that got done in 2023. Then he went on his US tour. And the subsequent thing I heard was that he was coming on Netflix. So truthfully, there was no conversation about that between him and me. Itâs not like we picked up the decision,” she said.
On the work front, Sumona was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s stunt-based reality show, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 14.
