A British toddler had died after drowning in a personal pool at a Greek holiday villa.

The unnamed tot, three, was on holiday along with his family near Tsilivi, a coastal village on the island of Zakynthos.

At around 12pm on Sunday while the family was preparing lunch contained in the villa, the teenager reportedly wandered off by himself.

His mum began calling out for him, with the family in search of the small child around the vacation home.

But he was found unconscious within the swimming pool by his grandfather, police confirmed to Greek news outlet Newsbomb.

The toddler was given CPR on the scene but was declared dead.

The boy, described as from Bangladesh by Greek media, was holidaying along with his mother, two aunts and grandparents who had flown to the island from the UK.

No arrests have been made. An investigation is ongoing.

The Foreign Office told Metro: ‘We’re providing consular support to the family of a British child who has died in Greece and are involved with the local authorities.’
