Katy Perry Kisses The Ground After Blue Origin Spaceflight

The 40-year-old pop star joined an all-female crew, which included Bezoz’s fianceé Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Amanda Nguyen, and aerospace trailblazer Aisha Bowe, for the 11-minute flight on Monday morning.

After crossing the Kármán Line and experiencing just a few minutes of weightlessness, the crew returned safely to Earth.

Nonetheless, Perry’s theatrical return has now set tongues wagging and stirred up social media buzz.

Because the “Roar” hitmaker exited the capsule, she paused to carry a daisy to the sky, a sweet tribute to her daughter named after the flower.

Perry then kissed the plant before descending the ladder. Once on the bottom, she dropped to her knees and kissed the Earth, flipping her hair in true diva fashion.

The Singer Is Getting Roasted Online For Her Behavior

While some praised Perry’s gesture as heartfelt and authentic, others online were quick to label it as excessive and attention-seeking.

“Oh, dramatic. You were there for 20 seconds, miss girl,” one user wrote on X. One other said: “All that hype for an ELEVEN-MINUTE flight. I believed she was going for every week or something, considering how much people were freaking out.”

A 3rd person noted, “Katy behaving like she’s returning after being stuck on one other planet and never like she’s been in ‘space for an entire 2 minutes.”

“Dramatic, but glad all of them are alive,” one other individual shared about Perry’s return.

Defending the singer, an X user commented, “[People]clowning her as if there wasn’t an enormous possibility of her dying during this. It’s crazy how negative the web is.”

Before liftoff, Perry gave fans a behind-the-scenes have a look at the Blue Origin capsule.

In a video shared online, the singer offered a glimpse into the snug spacecraft, excitedly panning the camera across the capsule’s interior.

Each seat was arranged in a circular layout and clearly marked with the crew members’ names. During her training, the “Firework” singer reflected on a private connection to the spacecraft.

“Once I was invited to return on this voyage, I looked up the capsule. On the very front of it’s the outline in the form of a feather and once I saw that it was like a complete confirmation because my mom has all the time called me a feather,” she said.

Perry also recalled a moment of awe when she discovered an unexpected second personal connection to the Blue Origin capsule.

“The capsule’s name is Tortoise,” she shared. “A wave, just probably the most energetic wave, just shot through my body. And I used to be like, ‘What? This capsule’s name is Tortoise?”

She went on to clarify: “My mom calls me two nicknames. Feather and Tortoise. What are the possibilities that I will space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol, the feather, called Tortoise?”

Perry added: “There aren’t any coincidences, and I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something greater than me is steering the ship.”
