29-year-old middleweight says he’ll ‘shock the world’ at UFC 300 despite fan criticism

Cody Brundage faces considered one of the hardest puzzles to crack currently within the middleweight division, as he takes on Bo Nickal at UFC 300, on April thirteenth.

It’s a matchup that has received a variety of backlash from the MMA fanbase because it was announced because Bo Nickal is on a tear and Cody Brundage has lost three of his last five fights. Not only that, however the UFC doubled down and placed this bout on the most important card of the milestone event.

The choice comes as a sensible one from a business perspective, because it is giving more exposure to Bo Nickal, who the UFC is hoping to construct into their next big star.

The winningest college wrestler has quickly emerged as a future contender within the 185lb division, and since of his dominant college wrestling background, he’s proving to be a tricky matchup for anyone.

Since earning a contract on last 12 months’s Contender Series, the 28-year-old has scored back-to-back first-round finishes against Jamie Pickett and Val Woodburn, and it seemed as if the UFC was going to fast-track him to the highest 15.

Despite that, it’s Cody Brundage who’s next to attempt to crack the puzzle, and he’ll hope to proceed his recent run of wins, seeking to make it three in a row for the primary time in his UFC profession. The Factory X product got here near being cut from the promotion following three losses in a row, but his turn in form got here at just the appropriate time.

Cody Brundage ‘bummed’ about criticism regarding bout positioning

Although Brundage has vowed to shock the world on the UFC 300 most important card, the 29-year-old admitted in an interview with The AllStar, that it was a ‘bummer’ to see everyone questioning the UFC’s decision.

Below Nickal and Brundage on the cardboard are seven former champions, including fan favorite Jiri Prochazka, Deiveson Figueiredo, and Cody Garbrandt.

“I believe (fans’ reactions) are somewhat bit silly. It sucks a bit, it’s an exciting thing to be on the most important card of UFC 300, it wasn’t expected I came upon when everyone else did, I used to be sat there watching it with my family and friends and everybody was pumped.

“It’s sort of a bummer for everybody to be p***** as me, like man, I just work here.” Brundage added.

Outside of the criticism, Brundage is hopeful he can use the backlash as fuel and has vowed that after the event, the most important headline shall be that ‘Cody Brundage shocks the world’.

“Whatever people need to say UFC 300 is the most important card of all time, the actual fact of the matter is regardless of what happens between the title fights, I am going on the market and have the performance I’m going to have, the most important headline coming out of UFC 300 is Cody Brundage shocks the world.” Brundage claimed.

The 29-year-old will look at hand Bo Nickal his first profession loss, taking the shine the UFC has placed on the credentialed wrestler.
