Sven-Goran Eriksson reduced to tears after receiving messages of support from ex-England’s Golden Generation

Sven-Goran Eriksson cut an emotional figure as a few of his former England players sent him messages of support.

The previous Three Lions boss sadly revealed in January he has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer.

Eriksson sought medical advice after he collapsed during a 5km run and revealed that he has ‘at best a 12 months’ to live.

During his managerial stint with England from 2001 to 2006, he took charge of the country’s ‘Golden Generation’ which included stars akin to Steven Gerrard, Gary Neville and Michael Owen.

And a few of those that featured under the Swede sent videos to him to supply their support to an all-time great when he was interviewed by Channel 4.

Owen Hargreaves particularly had an emotional message, where he said: “To begin with I just wish to say thanks for every part you probably did for me throughout my profession, for believing in me when loads of people didn’t.

“It actually modified my profession, modified my life in so some ways, so I just desired to say thanks for that. Your support meant a lot to me and I just wish to wish you all the very best, a number of love, stay strong.”

Eriksson might be seen wiping away a tear, before Hargreaves finished by saying: “Hopefully get to see you soon. But a number of like to you and your loved ones.”

“Just desired to say I wish you all of the easiest,” said Joe Cole. “Thanks for all of the memories and all the assistance in my profession, making my dream come true, playing for England at a World Cup twice.

“I remember I scored against Northern Ireland and also you come over after the sport and also you said to me, you had a glass of champagne or wine in your hand.

“You said, ‘Finally, you’ve got grow to be an entire player,’ and I used to be buzzing, it is often nice to listen to that from the manager.

“I wish you all of the easiest to you and your loved ones, and be great to see you soon.”

Paul Scholes then added: “I just wish to say it was an absolute pleasure to play for England for you.

“That team obviously must have won something, I wish I had done so much higher than I actually did for you. So I just wish to say hello Sven, I hope you are doing OK and all the very best together with your recovery.”

“I hope this finds you in good spirits,” Owen stated. “I hope you are keeping superb and I hope you are having fun with the present England team who’re doing so well.

“After all we’re all looking forward to the European Championships in the summertime. Take care boss and all of the easiest to you.”

Steven Gerrard then chimed in, with the ex-Liverpool skipper to once more be managed by Eriksson in Saturday’s legends clash between the Reds and Ajax.

He remarked: “Hello Sven, I just desired to send you my best wishes, send you some love and support. Been fascinated with you so much currently, hope you are doing OK.

“Really looking forward to seeing you next week, joyful to have you ever because the gaffer at Anfield, that’ll be really special. I’m just attempting to get the body in good condition so I can last the 90 minutes.”

Gary Neville then popped up with a message, where he commented: “Hi Sven, I hope you are well.

“I’m just sending you all my best wishes and thanking you for all of the support that you simply gave me whilst we were with England.

“And I’d like to find a way to see you soon, thanks very much.”

Eriksson said on Friday that leading a Liverpool Legends side out at Anfield on Saturday will likely be ‘like a dream’, with the 76-year-old a fan of the Reds and saying he was once near taking their managerial job.
