37-year-old spinner Kishor Kumar Sadhak entered his name within the record books on Thursday (July 10) by becoming the primary bowler on the planet to take two hat-tricks in two overs. In line with BBC Sport, Sadhak achieved the feat while playing for Ipswich and Colchester Cricket Club against Kesgrave within the Two Counties Championship Division Six match.
He finished the match with figures of 6-21 and helped his side secure a win by seven wickets.
As per the available information, of his six dismissals, five batters were bowled out, and the opposite was caught.
Speaking in regards to the sixth and final wicket, the 37-year-old told BBC Essex, “Once I saw that the person was bowled out, I used to be flying within the sky. It was amazing.”
Only twice before Sadhak has any bowler managed to take two hat-tricks in any match. The feat was last achieved by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc in 2017 while playing for Latest South Wales within the Sheffield Shield match.
Before Starc, Australia’s Jimmy Matthews took two hat-tricks against South Africa during a match played at Old Trafford 113 years ago.
But on each of those occasions, the six wickets were spread across two innings.
Sadhak, who’s from Ipswich, while talking to BBC Sport, said there have been loads of celebrations on the club following his special achievement.
“After the match I got loads of phone calls,” he added.
“We went to a restaurant, and we enjoyed drinks and food. We spent almost two and a half hours there. It was a really lovely moment.”
