The summer could also be slowly approaching its end, but sunbed wars amongst British holidaymakers abroad are still going strong.
In Tenerife, one British man was stunned when he woke up and noticed the perfect loungers around his resort’s pool were taken three hours before the realm opened.
Sunbed wars have reached an entire latest level as British holidaymakers sleep outside on them to order a coveted spot.
30-year-old Ben Smith, from Sheffield, said the scene was a ‘vicious cycle’, taking photos of the scene on the £259-a-night-per-person Gf Fanabe Hotel in Tenerife – a four-star resort.
The footage was shot on Monday, at the beginning of Ben’s two-week summer holiday.
‘They reserve the beds, however the hotel has a policy that in case your bed is left unattended, they may remove the towels – in order that they just lie in them,’ he said.
‘Some even look to be asleep. It’s a bit silly. I do get why people do it, nevertheless it’s a vicious cycle, so to talk. They’re those creating the issue that they’re aiming to avoid.’
Ben said if people didn’t reserve beds they didn’t really need to make use of, there wouldn’t be a problem in any respect.
In his time on the resort to this point, he said the beds haven’t been anywhere near filled with anyone – except towels.
Ben added: ‘We got one bed between three of us the opposite day, and a girl kindly said we could have considered one of hers – it wasn’t getting used and he or she told us to take her towel off.
‘I mean, in a way, it’s nice of her, but in one other, why is her towel on it when she’s not using it? It’s mostly selfishness.’
Tensions in Tenerife are high in the intervening time – just days ago, an indignant woman screamed at fellow holidaymakers, accusing them of getting ‘stolen’ her sunbed.
So-called sunbed wars are a feature at holiday hotels and resorts in sun spots internationally.
With loungers often outnumbered by guests, a bun fight ensues for the perfect spots by the pool.
It comes as research found that folks from the West Midlands were more than likely to confess to having reserved sun loungers while abroad.
Meanwhile, those from the West Country and Yorkshire and the Humber were the perfect behaved, with just eight per cent fessed as much as being a bed hogger.
Metro previously declared the start of 2025’s sunbed wars back in May, after an altercation at a resort in Lanzarote got here with the battle cry ‘you picked on the unsuitable person’ and threats of calling the manager.
