Teyana Taylor Speaks Out On Divorce, Legal Fees, & Moving On From Iman Shumpert
While promoting her recent album, ‘Escape Room,’ Teyana Taylor hit up the ‘Breakfast Club’ and spilled all of the tea about her divorce from her ex, Iman Shumpert. Just weeks after reportedly paying him $70K, for allegedly violating their divorce agreement, Teyana isn’t sweating the payout one bit. In truth, she’s calling the “best lil’ coin [she’s] ever spent.”
Chile, but that’s not all. Tey also spilled that when she hopped on a livestream back in March, she only did it to defend a skit about her that Iman had a hand in. From there, Taylor said each time she hits the headlines, it finally ends up being in regards to the divorce. Still, she believes Iman Shumpert keeps throwing jabs at her to punish her for her success, which is why she didn’t hesitate to send the cash so she will be able to move on along with her life.
“To just about punish me due to my accolades is insane. Nevertheless, if it’s going to present me my [peace] and we might be done with this for good… I sent that wire so fast. That was the perfect little coin I ever spent in my life cause I never should take care of this again,” Teyana said.
The Details Behind Teyana Taylor’s $70K Payout To Iman Shumpert
Teyana then requested to have Iman held in contempt, but that was later denied as a consequence of insufficient proof. Her appeal to have legal fees covered was also rejected, and it was determined that Teyana had willfully violated the divorce agreement during her March livestream. Consequently, an order was issued requiring $70K to be paid by Tey to Shumpert inside two weeks.

The judge handed down the ultimate divorce ruling on August 5, following Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s July 25 hearing. Tey claimed that Iman leaked details of the ruling to the media. In his petition, Iman alleged that Teyana violated the parenting plan and broke the identical rule she accused him of, which was speaking publicly in regards to the divorce. The judge reviewed the testimony from third-party witnesses and evidence submitted by each parties. Moreover, Iman’s legal team submitted Teyana’s March Instagram livestream, where she talked about their divorce as evidence. Within the video, she denies ever demanding jail time for him.
