Darren Till and Luke Rockhold conform to last-minute rule change during wild pre-fight press conference

The build-up to Misfits Boxing’s upcoming event in Manchester was at all times going to get heated.

On Saturday night, the promotion will crown an inaugural bridgerweight champion when Darren Till faces off with Luke Rockhold within the most important event.

With the likes of Tony Ferguson and Dillon Danis also set to be in motion, the possibilities of there being some drama on fight week were high.

As was the case of their earlier face-to-face interaction when the fight was announced, Till and Rockhold clashed on the press conference.

In the course of considered one of their vocal exchanges, it seems that the Brit was granted a wish that he was pushing for with reference to the bout’s ruleset.

Darren Till and Luke Rockhold shake hands on extending their most important event bout to eight rounds

The most important event of Misfits 22, also often called ‘Ring of Thrones’, was scheduled to be a six-round bout for the inaugural bridgerweight title.

It now looks just like the two men involved have come to an agreement on the press conference for a last-minute rule change.

Darren Till, who has been booked to go eight rounds in his previous two outings under the Misfits Boxing banner, called out Luke Rockhold for not wanting to go the extra two.

He criticized the previous UFC middleweight champion for this before offering to shake his hand and conform to eight rounds right then and there.

“You said, you’d pull out of the fight, you didn’t even want extra money, if it went to eight rounds,” Till said. “You are usually not ready. Well let’s shake, are you a person?”

While the 2 men did appear to briefly shake hands, this only led to a fair more heated back-and-forth between them, with Till accusing his opponent of attempting to pull his arm somewhat than “being a person” and shaking his hand.

Though Rockhold did conform to the rounds, he did dispute the Brit’s claim that he had requested a slight weight allowance for the fight.

Darren Till continued to pressure Luke Rockhold of their face off

Darren Till clearly wasn’t satisfied with the handshake that he received from Luke Rockhold to conform to their bout going down over eight rounds.

The Brit continued to say this of their face-off, asking the safety to let him approach his opponent in order that he could properly shake his hand.

“Let me get close please. I’m not going to the touch him, otherwise I won’t receives a commission.”

Despite Till telling the safety that he wouldn’t touch Rockhold, this didn’t last long.

‘The Gorilla’ looked to try to push the American once the 2 men were brought closer before they were quickly separated once more.
