FIFA appear to have sided with Donald Trump after the president threatened to maneuver World Cup games from certain US cities.

Next summer’s football World Cup will probably be held across several states, including Democrat-run cities like Latest York and Los Angeles.

President Trump has repeatedly threatened to maneuver matches from cities he thinks are ‘not protected’ and said earlier this week that FIFA president Gianni Infantino would ‘easily’ back his proposals.

‘We could take them away,’ Trump said as Boston became the most recent city to receive a World Cup threat from the president.

‘Their mayor [Michelle Wu] is just not good … She’s radical left, and so they’re taking on parts of Boston. That’s a fairly large statement, right?

‘If someone is doing a foul job, and I feel there’s unsafe conditions, I might call Gianni [Infantino], the top of Fifa, who’s phenomenal, and say let’s move it to a different location.

‘And he would try this. He wouldn’t like to do it, but he’d do it. Very easily, he’d do it.’

While Trump has no legal authority to maneuver World Cup games, he’s in a position to apply pressure to governing body FIFA and has an in depth relationship with Infantino.

The pair have turn out to be close since USA were confirmed as joint-hosts for next summer’s World Cup and each were on the stage for the presentation after the Club World Cup final in July.

Infantino, who was a surprising attendee of Trump’s Gaza peace summit in Egypt, is just not currently pushing back on the President’s daring World Cup claims.

‘Safety and security are obviously the governments’ responsibility, and so they resolve what’s in one of the best interest for public safety.

‘We hope every certainly one of our 16 host cities will probably be able to successfully host and fulfill all mandatory requirements.’

America will host 78 of the 104 fixtures within the expanded 48-team men’s World Cup, with the remaining games happening in Canada and Mexico.

Boston mayor Wu also responded to Trump’s comments while appearing on local podcast ‘Java with Jimmy’ on Wednesday.

‘Much of it’s locked down by contract in order that no single person, even in the event that they live within the White House currently, can undo it,’ Wu said.

‘We’re in a world where for drama, for control, for pushing the boundaries … ongoing threats … are issued to individuals and communities who refuse to back down and comply or be obedient to a hateful agenda.

‘We’re going to proceed to be who we’re and meaning, unfortunately, we’re going to be in a conversation in a way that’s targeting Boston’s values.’

Lisa Gillmor, the mayor of Santa Clara, California, meanwhile, said: ‘Any suggestion that Santa Clara is unsafe is just not based in actual fact.

‘We now have been preparing for these games for nearly three years, and we will probably be proud to welcome the world to Santa Clara for the World Cup next 12 months.’

Trump first threatened to maneuver World Cup matches in September, raising Seattle and the San Francisco as two problematic cities ‘run by radical left lunatics who don’t know what they’re doing’.

Responding to Trump’s claims on the time, FIFA vice-president Victor Montagliani said: ‘It’s Fifa’s tournament, Fifa’s jurisdiction, Fifa makes those decisions.

‘With all due respect to current world leaders, football is greater than them and football will survive their regime and their government and their slogans.

‘That’s the fantastic thing about our game, that it is greater than any individual and greater than any country.’
