‘Cool World’ (1992)
This live motion/animation hybrid bears a passing resemblance to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but trust us — it’s no Disney flick. The story follows Jack Deebs (Gabriel Byrne), a cartoonist who becomes trapped in a cartoon world of his own creation, where some “doodles” (cartoon people) are eager to escape into the human realm. Kim Basinger plays Holli Would, one such doodle who discovers she will be able to cross over by sleeping with a human, while Brad Pitt stars because the detective attempting to stop her in any respect costs.
Lustful, chaotic and bizarrely ambitious, Cool World is an animation fever dream that should be seen to be believed.
