Alan Shearer has blasted Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis after the brutal sacking of Ange Postecoglou on Saturday.

Ex-Tottenham boss Postecoglou lost his job as Forest head coach just 18 minutes after the 3-0 Premier League defeat to Chelsea this weekend.

The Australian was in control of Forest for just 39 days, in what has change into one among the shortest reigns in Premier League history.

Lower than three hours after Postecoglou’s sacking, Forest have made formally approached Roberto Mancini to change into their next manager.

That’s in keeping with Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Mancini hasn’t given any indication on his plans yet as talks have only just began.

Former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche is claimed to be one other candidate on Forest’s shortlist to exchange Postecoglou.

Speaking after Postecoglou lost his job, Premier League legend Shearer told the BBC: ‘Ultimately the outcomes haven’t been ok and that’s on Ange. However the owner has to take some responsibility too.

‘He selected Ange, it was his appointment. How are you going to go from a manager in Nuno [Espirito Santo] with one sort of play to someone like Ange who everyone knows wants his teams to play in a very different way?’

Fellow football pundit Micah Richards, meanwhile, added: ‘Should you’re not getting points, then the owner goes to make a call.

‘The difference goes from a defensive side who’re great on the counter-attack to a manager who desires to play more extensively – that’s going to take time.

‘The owner has high expectations. That’s probably what got them to Europe in the primary place. At this moment in time, they need calmness and stability.’

Pat Nevin has told Marinakis to ‘have a look at himself’ while Glenn Hoddle was left ‘surprised’ over how quick the choice was announced.

‘A wild shambles,’ Nevin opined. ‘Should you are the owner and you select the managers, it’s essential have a look at yourself sometimes.

‘I do think eight games, although it’s been bad, that isn’t enough to see if you happen to are ok.’

Hoddle, speaking on TNT Sports, said: ‘[For Marinakis] to go away his seat after 60 minutes [against Chelsea] was a press release in itself. I’m surprised he has done it so quickly after the sport.

‘Eight games they’ve not gone well, but after eight matches as a manager, it’s no time in any respect. Surely he has got to be given more time than that.’
