Jean-Philippe Mateta says he’s ‘very frustrated and upset’ despite scoring a Premier League hat-trick for Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The French striker netted 3 times as Palace drew 3-3 with AFC Bournemouth at Selhurst Park this weekend.

The Cherries had a two-goal lead due to Eli Junior Kroupi before Mateta scored twice within the space of 5 minutes to level things up.

Ryan Christie thought he’d won it for Bournemouth within the 89th minute just for Mateta to fit home a penalty deep into stoppage time.

Mateta was left gutted, though, after missing a golden likelihood to present Palace all three points within the 99th minute of the match.

The 28-year-old had the penalty area to himself with the goal at his mercy but ballooned his shot over the bar as Palace could only manage a draw.

‘With the last likelihood I had, I’m very frustrated,’ Mateta told the BBC following the full-time whistle.

‘I would like to win every game, even when I did rating a hat-trick. It was as much as me to attain the goal [with the late chance] and I didn’t rating it, that’s the reason I’m like this.

‘I would like just a few minutes to talk with the team and funky down but now I’m upset.’

Glasner: I’m so pleased with the performance

Palace boss Oliver Glasner, meanwhile, was ‘proud’ together with his team’s performance against Bournemouth.

Chatting with the BBC, Glasner said: ‘I understand how our games are going, our last game against Liverpool and our away game to Everton was the identical. It’s that last goal within the time beyond regulation.

‘I’m so pleased with the performance today – not the result. How we played and what number of probabilities we created.

‘We were ruthless and each likelihood was a goal. The mentality of the team and the issues we caused.

‘There has not been many teams that has caused Palace so many problems. It was an incredible display.

‘I don’t think they were that a lot better within the first-half. Once we go in details I believe it was an excellent game, they were ruthless and we said we might persist with the plan and we did.

‘Our first goal we were back on the sport.’

Quizzed about people doubting Palace’s character, Glasner added: ‘I believe everyone enjoyed it. I never doubt our character because we’ve got shown and proved it so again and again.’
