8BitDo Celebrates the NES fortieth Birthday with Special Collection

It’s time to feel old again. Today is the Nintendo Entertainment System’s fortieth birthday in North America, and 8BitDo is celebrating with a special collection of accessories. Dubbed the NES40 Collection, it includes the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth – N40 Edition, the Retro 68 Keyboard – N40 Edition, and the Retro Cube 2 Speaker – N Edition. All three items are available for preorder, with the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller shipping on November 18 and priced at $79.99; the Retro 68 Keyboard shipping in January 2026 with a $499.99 price tag; and the Retro Cube 2 Speaker shipping on December 12 at $49.99.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth NES fortieth Limited Edition controller is compatible with Switch, Switch 2, PC, and even the unique NES console with the NES Retro Receiver. The $79.99 controller features TMR joysticks with RGB lighting, extra bumpers (R4 and L4), two back paddle buttons, a trigger mode switch, Hall effect triggers, tactile bumpers and D-pad, motion control for Switch, a turbo function, and vibration. Those that preorder inside the first week can get $5 off directly from 8BitDo’s website.

As for the Retro 68 Keyboard – NES fortieth Limited Edition, the primary batch of preorders features a free Retro R8 Mouse – N Edition to match the keyboard’s design. At $499.99, this package doesn’t come low-cost, offering wireless, Bluetooth, or wired USB connectivity. It’s a 68-key design with Kailh Box Ice Cream Pro Max switches, a gasket mount, a hot-swappable PCB, a full aluminum construct, RGB backlighting, function key shortcuts, and wireless programmable buttons that could be fast-mapped without software. Internally, there’s a 6,500 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery, and 8BitDo says you’ll be able to get 300 hours of use with a nine-hour charge time. Again, the keyboard ships in January 2026.

Lastly is the Retro Cube 2 Speaker – N Edition, shipping December 12. The $49.99 speaker features an iconic NES-inspired design and could be connected to a source via Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, or wired USB. There’s a 2,000 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery that delivers 30 hours of use with three to 5 hours of charging time. For convenience, it features a slim charging dock that’s hard to pick unless you recognize what to search for.
