“This bill addresses the 4, six, and eight-round fighters that weren’t addressed the primary time within the sense that there’s a minimum purse requirement and a minimum insurance requirement and minimum medical requirements for each fighter on this country. Andy Foster highlights the most important difference between Zuffa Boxing and other promotions
The Muhammad Ali American Boxing Revival Act allows Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing to maneuver away from the sanctioning bodies, rankings, and four-belt system.
Andy Foster explained that within the four-belt system, promoters will often have their fighter taking over an opponent that’s effectively brought in to lose to the person they need to push.
Foster says that Zuffa Boxing’s plans will change that by having a league system where they’ve each of the fighters in a matchup signed to their roster, which is able to result in more competitive fights.
“The financial incentive in a league-type format could be that since you will have either side of the cardboard, you desire to have probably the most competitive fights possible,” Foster explained. “The financial incentive is to bring the general public back to look at it because the thought is to have good fights. The thought is to make the fights probably the most competitive since you don’t really care who loses since you’ve got each fighters under contract, under your league-type system. That’s probably the most important difference.”
