Ever since Francis Ngannou left the UFC, the heavyweight division has been somewhat plagued with bad luck.
In 2023 after defending his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane, Francis Ngannou opted to depart the UFC in pursuit of upper pay elsewhere.
Since then, the heavyweight division has been somewhat plagued and recently within the UFC 321 important event between champion Tom Aspinall and the aforementioned Gane, the fight resulted in disaster after Aspinall was poked in the attention.
With that, former heavyweight champion Jon Jones teased Aspinall by accepting a recent callout from light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, which was received well by not only the fans.
Ngannou disagrees with Joe Rogan’s recent claim
After each Jones and Pereira talked a couple of potential fight against one another, it was labeled as potentially ‘the largest fight in human history’ by UFC icon Joe Rogan, who’s champing on the bit to see the fight.
Nevertheless, ‘The Predator’ disagrees with Rogan’s claim and has stated that ‘the largest fight on the earth’ can only happen if he’s involved in it.
“ the reply, you don’t need me for that,” he said to TMZ Sports when asked what a much bigger fight is between him vs Jones and Jones vs Pereira.
“Should I answer? Do you really want me to reply? The most important fight of all time can only occur with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. That’s all I can say about that. No disrespect to other fighters, I respect all of the fighters no matter if the fight is a important card or prelim fight, whatever or wherever.
“I believe great fights occur in every single place, I became a world champion within the Apex with no crowd, so so long as it’s a fight, it’s not concerning the place but when you wish to see the largest fight of all time, you make it the largest,” he continued.
Could we ever see Ngannou return to the UFC?
At this point, it is incredibly unlikely that we ever get the fight between Jones and Ngannou, especially considering ‘The Predator’s’ bad relationship with Dana White and the promotion.
Not only that, but it surely is unclear whether the previous champion will even return to MMA after having competed twice in boxing.
With him signed to the PFL, there may be a severe lack of contenders for him to fight which has unfortunately resulted in his profession going stagnant.
