Fans on social media are criticising Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for retaining fast-bowler Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, despite the pending cases of alleged abuse against him. The franchise released six players ahead of Saturday’s deadline, but kept Dayal on their payroll along with his annual contract of Rs. 5 crore.
Two separate criminal cases have been filed against Dayal, in Ghaziabad and Jaipur, respectively, each involving serious allegations of abuse. FIRs have been filed against him in each, which has even led to his ban from playing in his state’s local league, the Uttar Pradesh T20 League.

must have released yash dayal for non cricketing reasons.— ipsiii (@masakalii_) November 15, 2025
They’ve retained Yash Dayal, what a shameless fellows man.. If he’s convicted in the longer term, you’re literally backing a player who has a POSCO case. You all should share blame with him… Donkeys @RCBTweets— Sai (@akakrcb6) November 15, 2025
Yash Dhayal was kicked out of his state league, but RCB have retained him. SHAMEFUL— Sergio (@SergioCSKK) November 15, 2025
Within the Ghaziabad case, a lady with whom Dayal was in a long-term relationship accused him of sexual and financial exploitation under the pretext of marriage. She alleged that he became physically violent and mentally harassed her when she questioned his intentions.
An FIR was lodged in July 2025 under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Allahabad High Court has granted Dayal interim protection from arrest while the police proceed their investigation and prepare their report.
The second case, filed in Jaipur, involves more severe charges. One other woman accused Dayal of repeatedly raping her over two years, starting when she was 17. She claimed he had manipulated her with guarantees of aiding her cricket profession and assaulted her in a hotel during IPL events. Given her age on the time, the FIR invokes sections of each the POCSO Act and the BNS.
Although no team is legally certain to release a player who has been accused in a criminal case, it is taken into account good practice for sporting institutions not to maintain paying athletes under investigation for crimes as serious as rape and domestic assault.
RCB’s full squad ahead of IPL 2026 Auction: Rajat Patidar (C), Virat Kohli, Jitesh Sharma (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rasikh Salam, Suyash Sharma, Yash Dayal, Abhinandan Singh, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Phil Salt (WK), Jacob Bethell, Romario Shepherd, Josh Hazlewood and Nuwan Thushara
