‘Punch drunk… Nate Diaz mocked by fans after explaining why Islam Makhachev isn’t P4P #1

Nate Diaz doesn’t think Islam Makhachev has done enough to be crowned the pound-for-pound king.

Since making his UFC debut in 2015, Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s protege has won 17 fights and lost only one.

Islam Makhachev has won lightweight gold and defended the belt 4 times, greater than anyone in history during his decade-long stay in MMA’s premier promotion.

Last weekend, the 34-year-old moved as much as the welterweight division and made it look easy as he became a two-weight champion by mauling Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322.

Why Nate Diaz doesn’t think Islam Makhachev needs to be P4P #1

Islam Makhachev was officially reinstalled because the pound-for-pound primary last Tuesday.

The overwhelming majority of fans agree that he’s done enough to take the reins from Ilia Topuria.

Nonetheless, Nate Diaz doesn’t think that either of them needs to be considered the very best fighter in MMA.

“Jon Jones, of course,” Diaz said when asked who’s the pound-for-pound primary without delay.

“People get it twisted, they only throw s— out like that.

“[Makhachev] has been here for like two minutes, and he ain’t beat no one that’s crazy.

“The perfect lightweight ever was B.J. Penn. So, once we get s— like that, and also you got whatever Islam did, and it’s like that, don’t even match. It’s not that he can’t be or won’t be, but you’re just gonna throw GOAT on the motherf—er when he just showed up on the scene?

“They think I’m f—ing hating. That’s because we’ve got our differences…. There may be s— I’ve seen that I’ll remember endlessly. That’s GOAT s—. I ain’t seen nothing from them mother—ers. I can’t even remember anything but becoming bored in all them fools’ last fights.

“That name shouldn’t even be thrown at those guys.

“I believe [Topuria] is more of an entire fighter than [Islam].”
