Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki joined The Recent York Times’ Hard Fork podcast to debate the gaming platform’s recent age verification feature — but he appeared to get frustrated on the variety of questions focused on child safety.
The interview began with Baszucki describing the feature, which can require all users who wish to submit a face scan in the event that they wish to access Roblox’s messaging features. But by the point he was asked a couple of report claiming the corporate had prioritized growth over safety, Baszucki appeared to tire of the subject, responding, “Fun. Let’s keep happening this.”
And when co-host Kevin Roose agreed that among the finest ways for Roblox to enhance child safety is to enhance its AI models, Baszucki insisted, “Good, so that you’re aligning with what we did. High-five.”
“And I would like to spotlight, I got here here because I like your podcast and got here to speak about all the pieces,” he added. “So if our PR people said, ‘Let’s speak about age-gating for an hour,’ I’m up for it, but I like your pod. I believed I got here here to speak about all the pieces.”
