The Recent Jersey Devils are on the lookout for help down the center

Anthony Di Marco of Each day Faceoff: Recent Jersey Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has been on the lookout for a third-line center dating back to last season, after they were taking a look at then Philadelphia Flyers Scott Laughton and St. Louis Blues Brayden Schenn. The Devils settled on a less expensive Cody Glass.

A source said Jack Hughes‘ latest injury showcases the necessity for an additional center, but they won’t discover a alternative on the trade market. They’ll search for a depth center and never an even bigger name.  Two league sources said they aren’t alone in wanting a middle. “Half the league” would really like so as to add one other center.

Dawson Mercer has moved to the center, and Cody Glass is about to return from injury. The 2 could platoon for now.

Nazem Kadri and Schenn would obviously be two of the larger trade options, in the event that they’re even available. The Devils could use more size and grit.
