Priscilla Kelly, the previous Gigi Dolin in WWE, has made her way back to the independent scene after her release from the corporate at the start of May, and though things are different for her within the indies now than they were five years ago, it doesn’t seem as if she’s missed a step. Kelly recently spoke with Dave LaGreca on “Busted Open Radio” about how things are going for her now, as she stays booked and busy in her post-WWE life. She explained that WWE and the indies are “two different sorts of busy.”
“With WWE, you are working your a** off. You are very busy,” Kelly explained. “You are training every single day if you’re in ‘NXT.’ You are on the road. You are doing all these items. But, it’s organized… You’ve gotten a schedule. The indies, it’s busy, however it’s your personal machine. Especially now versus after I was on the independent scene before WWE, now, it’s much different. Because, before, I used to be just the young indie kid, very DIY, very similar to ‘whatever happens, happens. I’m just wrestling and making promos.’ You do it loads, but now, it’s like, post-WWE, it’s like I even have to administer not only Priscilla Kelly, an individual, however it’s Priscilla Kelly, a brand.”
She called the independents as of late “a special form of beast” now that she’s doing all of it herself. Kelly has most recently worked in MLW, where she was defeated by fellow-WWE release-turned indie darling Shotzi Blackheart. She also worked a House of Glory show alongside Allie Katch in a loss to Blackheart and Scarlett Bordeaux, and even lost to Danhausen in a recent GCW match.
Kelly’s Life Post-WWE
Kelly hasn’t been shy about sharing her thoughts about her time in WWE, each the great and the bad that comes with working there. She spoke on “Busted Open” concerning the rush of emotions that got here with the decision notifying her of her release. She said she was “everywhere.”
“It doesn’t matter in case you loved WWE, it doesn’t matter in case you hated working at WWE, if you first get released, there’s all the time a mixture of emotions,” she said. “There’s all the time somewhat little bit of that self doubt. There’s all the time somewhat little bit of that excitement that, ‘Oh my God, I can do whatever I need now.’ But, then there’s all the time the ‘Oh my God… it’s all as much as me to do it…’ Like, it was bittersweet. I used to be somewhat bit relieved.”
Kelly said she was glad to not must wake as much as “go bump her a** off at 9 am,” but said she knew she was going to miss it, in addition to the buddies she had made along the way in which, including her former tag partner, Tatum Paxley. She also explained the relief at knowing she could return to creating her own schedule.
“I haven’t got to have panic attacks each time someone calls my phone because I believe I’m being told that I even have to make a flight in a number of hours to go to ‘Raw’ or I’m being told that I even have to stop the whole lot I’m doing to are available and film a promo,” she said. “Not that I wasn’t grateful for those opportunities, however it adds quite a lot of pressure to your day-to-day life.”
