India will face South Africa in a three-match ODI series. Ahead of the beginning of the series in Ranchi on Sunday (November 30), legendary South African fast bowler Dale Steyn and former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel have made their predictions concerning the results of the series and likewise for the best run getter and leading wicket-taker.
In accordance with Steyn, South Africa, after defeating India within the two-match Test series, will bag the ODI series as well with a scoreline of 2-1, whereas Parthiv has predicted a 3-0 win for India in the house series.
“My prediction… I feel India goes to come back back strong. Within me, it says that India are going to win 2-1. But I feel it’s going to be the opposite way around. I believe South Africa are going to take it 2-1. Proteas, after this improbable Test series, won (after) 25 years. They’re on a roll. There’s query marks across the Indian camp. I believe the Proteas are going to win this 2-1,” Steyn said in a video shared by Star Sports on X.
“I actually need India to beat South Africa 3-0. South Africa can also be side, but I feel India goes to take it 3-0,” Parthiv said.
As for the best run getter, Steyn has backed Quinton de Kock, and Parthiv believes it can be world No. 1 ODI batter Rohit Sharma, who’s going to attain probably the most runs within the three one-day matches.
“The very best runs in a 50-over game, the highest three have probably the most probabilities. I’m hoping, and I’m backing Rohit Sharma to get probably the most runs. He was in good form as well; he was well prepared. So hopefully, he gets probably the most runs,” Parthiv said.
“I’m going to go along with Quinton de Kock. I feel like he’s got some extent to prove. I feel like he’s going to come back here with some experience. He’s played a number of IPL games, and he’s toured here (India) persistently before. So he’s played against a number of those Indian bowlers. So I feel like he’s going to be my highest run scorer from each teams,” Steyn said.
Although Steyn and Parthiv made contrasting predictions by way of the final result of the series and the best run getter, each of them feel that Kuldeep Yadav will likely be the best run getter within the series.
“Kuldeep Yadav goes to be my highest wicket-taker over the course of this whole series from either side,” Steyn said. “The type of venues we’re playing in, I’m once more a wrist spinner. I’m Kuldeep Yadav to turn out to be the best wicket-taker,” Parthiv added.
