Former Love It Or List It star Hilary Farr is shutting down viral rumors that she’s in ailing health.
“Ta-da! I’m alive,” Farr, 74, said in a Wednesday, November 26, Instagram video, responding to online speculation that she was on her deathbed. “I’m very, very, very much so alive and well, I’m blissful to say.”
Farr further called images of her wearing an oxygen mask the results of “bad AI” editing.
“I hope none of you’d take any of this seriously and know it is just fake beyond words,” she stated. “Well, I’m here to prove that. So, just checking in! All’s good with me.”
Farr is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed in 2014 and subsequently underwent treatment.
“I’ve teamed up with the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Motion Month,” Farr said in a social media video shared in September, one month before Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “It’s time to share our stories, get this out within the open and support our communities — and most significantly, get screened.”
Farr, now in remission for several years, further offered a chunk of recommendation to others in similar situations.
“For now, take a deep breath, sit with your folks and just discuss it,” she added. “Take into consideration what you may do to boost awareness and motion this October.”
Farr was best generally known as the designer on Love It or List It for 19 seasons, ultimately departing in 2023.
“It’s been an exquisite 12 years. I’m so grateful to the network for his or her support and to my fans who’ve stayed loyal and true,” she told Us Weekly in a press release on the time about her show exit. “David [Visentin, my cohost] and I’ll remain friends without end and I expect him to be as fabulously and hilariously annoying as ever.”
Farr concluded, “Love It or List It has had such a real impact on so many lives, including mine, but now it’s time for me to embrace recent challenges which have come my way. If that is my legacy, it’s an amazing one.”
Visentin, 60, the realtor on Love It or List It. He attempted to encourage show participants to sell their house and buy a brand new one, while Farr tried to get the homeowners to remain put with a renovation.
“Working with Hilary has been a wild, unforgettable ride. I’d prefer to forget the mountain of ‘love its’ but hey, she’s a talented lady,” Visentin said in his own statement to Us in December 2023. “Although we were rivals on the show, we became quick friends and share countless memories each on and off set. I sit up for continuing that friendship and want her all the most effective in every part she does.”
Visentin now cohosts Love It Or List It with Page Turner, while Farr led her own Tough Love series for one season that very same 12 months. Farr also handles DIY upgrades for her own pad.
“Teeny sneak peek at my recent kitchen which I really like. Couldn’t have done this without @latitudesurfaces and @kohlerstoretoronto,” she wrote via Instagram earlier this month, sharing pics of her interior progress. “More to return. I’ll do a giant reveal when it’s all finished!”
