Nate Thompson: “Dave, you saw Carter Hart come back last night (Tuesday Night) and have a reasonably solid game for Vegas. The goaltending market, unsure what it looks like. But for a team like Edmonton, the situation that they’re in now, and clearly goaltending being an enormous a part of their issues, is that this something that you think that that they’re going to handle or are they going to depart be for the remaining of the season? Just cope with it internally?”

NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Won’t a Panic Move for a Goalie

Dave Pagnotta: “I feel they’re going to maintain it going internally, unless that is one other scenario where, if something completely falls into their lap, I’m sure they pounce on it. But I feel, and Stan Bowman their GM and management has been pretty consistent of their messaging that they wish to look to handle other areas of their club, versus the crease.

And each Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard are UFAs at the tip of the season, into July. I feel the goaltending position will probably be something that’s addressed within the offseason, versus throughout the yr. I still think they’re going to look to shore up the D. I still think they’re going to look to search out any individual that they will add to the combo that’s palatable and reasonably priced. I feel that may be more those two areas than the goalie.

Yes, there’s, we’ve heard in the previous few weeks, Tristan Jarry, and Jordan Binnington. And a few people try to attach Juuse Saros, and even UPL in Buffalo, who, I feel, the bottom of the cap hits at 4.75. That’s still an enormous number. Plus, you may have not fit the cap scenario and the cap figures, but you bought to offer up a good variety of package to be able to bolster your goaltending.

NHL Rumors: The Edmonton Oilers and Goaltending

I still imagine that it’s more prone to occur within the offseason, and that they’re going to handle other areas of their club to enhance upon and take a look at to get them back on course, although they’re what, 4 points or five points, whatever it’s, out of the playoffs. But I still think it’s more likely that they address other areas of the club, up front and on the versus the goal setting, no less than immediately.”
