Deontay Wilder has one major concern about Anthony Joshua ahead of Jake Paul ‘money grab’

Deontay Wilder has shared his thoughts on probably the most controversial fight of 2025.

Former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua will return to the ring on December 19.

He’ll square off against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a mismatch that has divided the boxing world.

Some people see it as a money-making tune-up for Anthony Joshua, while others imagine that it’s massively dangerous to place a 12-1 novice within the ring with an opponent who’s a lot greater and more expert.

Deontay Wilder fears for Anthony Joshua’s legacy

Deontay Wilder has been chasing a fight with Anthony Joshua for nearly a decade.

The heavyweight duo have shared their fair proportion of cross words during their failed public negotiations.

Wilder has every reason to trash Paul vs Joshua, so that you may be surprised to listen to he doesn’t mind the matchup.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ says the one thing Joshua must be nervous about is winning to be certain his legendary legacy stays intact.

“It’s all about how they advertise and promote this thing,” Wilder told Motion Network.

“If [Joshua] goes in and promotes like that is the chance of a lifetime, to get to a title fight or something like that… this is just not a qualification for that. After which he finally ends up losing, getting knocked out or something? It’s gonna hurt his legacy.

“If he goes in there and gets knocked out in a dramatic way or something like that, it should hurt his legacy.

“That’s something that folks are at all times gonna return [to] and take a look at the highlight reel.

“So, I see it where it could hurt his legacy, because at the top of the day, people only remember the last item you’ve done. We live in a world of ‘what have you ever done for me these days?’ But he can recuperate from that, though, go on and do great things after that. It’s all about him and what he does from there.

“I just take a look at these opportunities [as] just fun – fun opportunities for the masses of the fans – and a money grab. That’s all I take a look at it as.”

Anthony Joshua vows to KO Jake Paul

Some fans think it’s not enough for Anthony Joshua to easily beat Jake Paul once they fight.

They insist that anything aside from a fast knockout win will probably be a serious setback for ‘AJ’.

Joshua recently responded to those fans with a chilling warning ahead of his clash with Paul.

“I actually understand where they’re coming from,” he said last week.

“I understand. I get it… I do know the expectations and demands these fans have. And I respect it.

“If I didn’t respect it, I’d be honest with you and say, ‘No, they’re talking rubbish,’ but I do. I do get it because I hold myself in that very same regard, so I want to destroy him, and that’s my intention, to hunt and destroy!”
