NHL Rumors: Quinn Hughes Trade Talks Are Taboo Across the League

Host: “Okay, so speaking of oh boy, you dropped a bomb on Saturday. Quinn Hughes, you mentioned this on Headlines. There have been teams which have reached out to the Vancouver Canucks. You mentioned Latest Jersey being one in all them, like Fuchs (Mike Futa) and I even have talked about this on the air, off the air, it just really seems like all roads result in Latest Jersey not directly, shape or form. Whether it’s via trade or in free agency.

Because, I mean, without knowing anything certain, with certainty, I don’t know, seems like Quinn Hughes is destined for the Latest Jersey Devils. Because if he gets traded some place else, because he doesn’t have any trade protection in the mean time and for the remaining of his contract, that perhaps he doesn’t sign an extension, and that seriously handicaps what the Vancouver Canucks are in a position to do in a trade.”

Elliotte Friedman: “I even have to let you know, I feel that’s all of the form of stuff that’s being type of discussed and sorted out immediately. And I feel that one in all the challenges here is that I don’t know that Hughes thought that this could be happening now. I mean, I don’t know that anybody thought that this might potentially occur now, and we’ll see what happens.

It’s clear to me, since we spoke on Saturday, that there’s more happening on the market. Like, sometimes, that’s the way in which it really works, Matty. The glass breaks, after which more starts leaking through. And, I’ll say one thing about this, like, Vancouver is just about radio silent on this. Like they don’t wish to discuss it. They recognize the radioactive nature of this conversation, particularly in their very own market. And the Canucks aren’t saying anything.

And what I feel is that I feel there have been some, at the least, conversations about it. I don’t know where it stands. I feel there’s just a few teams who’ve talked and, I feel one in all the challenges here is that, as I said this morning on the pod, there’s a fairly full of life debate on the market about, where Hughes would love his end team to be. He said it before because he thinks the query is form of dumb. In fact, he’d wish to play together with his brothers. But, is it the correct time? Is it even workable? Could it occur at this point?

NHL Rumors: Quinn Hughes Was Asked Concerning the Latest Jersey Devils Trade Talks

Like immediately, Vancouver, in the event that they wish to do that, the largest control they’ve is that they control where he’s going, right? And so, I mean, it’s and, as I said, I’m unsure Hughes thought that this could be a conversation now. So that you’re attempting to play, and in addition you’re probably deciding, ‘Hey, where do I see my long-term future?’

So I feel there’s a whole lot of balls within the air. I feel there’s mainly, what I feel has happened is that this conversation has been forced to occur before everybody was really ready for it, I feel. And, so I feel, could I say the word think more times in a sentence? I feel what I consider is, what I consider is that everyone is form of figuring this all out and where we’re going.”

NHLRumors.com Note: The Vancouver Canucks brought this firestorm surrounding Quinn Hughes themselves. Whether or not they actually move him now or afterward is up for debate. But was it smart for President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford to say Quinn Hughes desired to play together with his brothers? Probably not. Neither was putting the memo out about being open for business. How the Canucks love drama, and it’s been there for a few years. That’s how they operate.
