Melquizael Costa put together an ideal performance against Julian Erosa his last outing, out-striking his opponent 128-85 throughout the three rounds. Costa was also dominant in reversing three takedowns from Erosa on the bottom, giving him a transparent advantage in all areas of the fight. If he’s in a position to be dominant in a similar way against Charriere, we should always see him cruise to a different decisive three-round win.
Melquizael Costa is sweet in all areas of the fight, but his submission grappling is what really stands out with eight wins already under his belt. Not only is he extremely resourceful in reversing positions, but he does an excellent job of moving out of bad positions and finding advantageous control on the bottom. If he manages to take the back during this fight, expect Charriere to have a tricky time in shaking him off.
Costa can also be very expert on the feet and loves to combine up his looks with each his punches and low leg kicks.
