Jake Paul vs Manny Pacquiao: Why boxing legend would reject a $35 million fight offer

Manny Pacquiao’s manager says he’s got absolutely little interest in fighting Jake Paul.

The eight-weight world champion is currently in search of an opponent to face in March 2026.

WBA welterweight champion Rolly Romero is the frontrunner to fight Manny Pacquiao next.

The 46-year-old can also be serious about pursuing a money-spinning rematch with Floyd Mayweather.

Jake Paul vs Manny Pacquiao ruled out

Manny Pacquiao is open to boxing a bunch of various opponents, but Jake Paul isn’t one among them.

The Filipino boxing legend’s advisor, Sean Gibbons, says no sum of money could get that matchup over the road.

Pacquiao is targeted on making big fights with people of the same size and skill level, not a novice who’s over 50lbs heavier than him.

“You understand what? Manny is different than other people,” Gibbons told Betway.

“Manny’s an actual fighter. He’s a person of honor. Manny fights for money when it is sensible. He just doesn’t fight for money to fight for money.

“If he got offered $35 million, he still wouldn’t have an interest. Manny desires to win real fights in his weight, not like Gervonta Davis, who’s trying to money in. Manny has never been about freak shows.

“Plus, the dimensions difference, too. Manny’s at 147 lbs and Jake Paul is 200 lbs, so Manny isn’t going to do a fight like that.

“I don’t think I’ll ever see Manny doing any of those sorts of fights. I see him taking up an actual fight like Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis.”

Manny Pacquiao’s advice to Jake Paul

Jake Paul is ready to square off against Anthony Joshua in Miami, Florida, on December 19.

The fight is viewed by many as a mismatch in favor of the previous two-time heavyweight world champion.

Manny Pacquiao recently offered Paul five words of recommendation ahead of his hardest test so far.

“[Paul] has to coach hard,” Pacquiao told Bloody Elbow’s Donagh Corby.

Asked if he was ever approached about the potential of fighting Paul, Pacquiao replied that it was “inconceivable”. Even for an exhibition bout in his retirement, he only ever got to a peak weight of 161lb, while the social media star is best-known for fighting around 200lbs.
