Ubisoft Acquires March of Giants and Amazon Games Montreal

Ubisoft has announced the acquisition of Amazon’s Montreal game studio and the sport it’s working on, March of Giants. March of Giants is a free-to-play 4v4 MOBA featuring early-1900s technology. It puts a twist on the MOBA genre by adding real-time strategy elements and lane-based combat that emphasize large-scale coordination and mastery of the sport’s giant heroes.

What’s interesting in regards to the acquisition is that it brings back some key former Ubisoft team members. This includes senior production lead Alex Parizeau, who was the previous managing director at Ubisoft Toronto. One other notable figure is Xavier Marquis, who was the unique creative director behind Rainbow Six Siege. He currently serves because the creative director for March of Giants.

“Returning to Ubisoft brings things full circle,” said Xavier Marquis, Creative Director. “We built a few of our most meaningful work here, and we’re excited to proceed developing March of Giants from inside Ubisoft. This game has enormous potential, and I do know Ubisoft may help us take it to the subsequent level.”
