Landman viewers are in for some shocking onscreen twists in season 2 after the show previously introduced some surprise onscreen deaths.
Jacob Lofland exclusively told Us Weekly what fans can expect, saying, “There’s definitely some twists, turns and surprises which are coming in the following episodes. There’s just a few things that I don’t think anyone sees coming. I definitely didn’t.”
He continued: “There’s some awesome surprises — good and bad — but it surely’s all going to work out.”
Landman, which premiered in 2024, follows the world of oilfields in West Texas. The hit Paramount+ series introduced Billy Bob Thornton as the company fixer working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm) while build up to its promise of plot twists. The season finale killed off Hamm’s Monty while Tommy was named the president of M-Tex before getting kidnapped — and severely beaten — by a drug cartel leader. Tommy is eventually released with the promise that he’ll work with the cartel.
Season 2 raised the stakes by shaking up the narrative with Demi Moore‘s Cami added into the combination more. Elsewhere within the show, Ali Larter‘s Angela, Lofland’s Cooper, Michelle Randolph‘s Ainsley and more are at the middle of their very own drama.
“That’s one thing a couple of Taylor [Sheridan] show. When things are going too smooth, there’s often something coming,” Lofland, 29, teased to Us. “To this point, it’s going great. Like I said, they’re navigating it well. We’ll just see the way it goes. I believe everyone’s going to be excited to look at the remaining of the season.”

Going into season 2, Lofland had no idea what to anticipate for Cooper’s journey — professionally and personally.
“We had all 10 scripts and we mainly shot a 10-hour movie knowing where we began and where we left off. Each time we began season 2, we began with two scripts after which they got here out as normal TV does. So we were learning just as just because the audience is right away — week to week — we might work out where we’re going next,” he recalled. “It definitely got its challenges if you get a script on a Friday and also you start shooting that script Monday.”
Lofland also weighed in on Cooper’s possible engagement to girlfriend Ariana (Paulina Chavez).
“[It’s] for the audience to make their very own conclusion on [whether they are moving too fast]. Everyone has got their very own opinion,” Lofland noted. “However the thing is, within the lifetime of these characters, nobody else resides it. It’s them.”
Lofland noted that only Cooper and Ariana know what’s best for them.
“It might be two weeks and it might be two months. I’ve heard loads of people who have been married for 30 years that didn’t date for six weeks,” he said. “I’ve also heard, people who dated for seven years get married and it’s done in three months.”
He concluded: “They’re a very strong couple and so they could be stronger and so they’re learning one another. That is Cooper’s first real relationship in his life. So it’s taken slightly while to work out the right way to navigate it. He’s never been in this example — especially with the pressure from working and in trying to start out his own company.”
