Macaulay Culkin couldn’t help but gush about how “proud” he’s of his two kids he shares with fiancée Brenda Song.
“There’s a word that I take advantage of in my household since it’s something that I didn’t really hear enough of once I was a child,” Culkin, 45, explained on a Tuesday, December 16, episode of YouTube’s Mythical Kitchen channel. “And that’s ‘proud.’ Man, I’m pleased with my kids.”
The Home Alone star — who shares sons Dakota, 4, and Carson, 3, with Song, 37 — went on to say though he had the “primary movie in America” he “never got the ‘p’ word” from his parents.
“My kid, he does his recital and the curtain opens and he’s really enthusiastic about it. He’s going to play a bug,” Culkin recalled. “As soon because the curtain opens, he freezes, he cries and he runs off stage. And so I am going and scoop him up. And the very first thing out of my mouth is, ‘Man, I’m so pleased with you. You were so brave to go on the market like that. Like you probably did that? Like there’s so many individuals! … I like your costume. I’m pleased with you.’”
Culkin noted that he’s “pleased with [himself]” that he could “provide” for his family “in that sort of way” and that he can “love [his] family the fitting sort of way.”
After the actor explained how the thoughts of ending up like your parents could “haunt you,” he gave a shout-out to Song for teaching him easy methods to be a greater father.
“The best way I learned to be a father is thru Brenda,” Culkin added. “Brenda is such a very good mother and he or she makes me wish to be a greater father, a greater person and a greater father. I see how good she is and I see how pleased our children are. I am going, ‘OK, like, yes, don’t take heed to me.’”
Culkin and Song began dating in 2017 after being spotted holding hands at Knott’s Berry Farm. The couple welcomed their first son, Dakota, in April 2021 before getting engaged in January 2022.
“They’re and at all times have been very in love with one another,” a source told Us Weekly shortly after their proposal.

Although Culkin and Song have kept their relationship relatively private throughout the years, the pair opened up about their romance in a rare joint interview for Cosmopolitan’s Love Issue in January.
“I’d never felt this fashion before,” Culkin recalled to the outlet of when he began dating Song. “I believed in her. I mean, I believed in people before, but I believed in her all the way down to my bone marrow. what I mean? I put it behind the armor though, behind that shield.”
Meanwhile Song shared that when she met Culkin, he made her “such an even bigger person.”
“After I met Mack, there was so far more of me that I hadn’t found out,” she explained. “He made me such an even bigger person and I used to be like, ‘Oh my God. I didn’t realize that there have been so many things I didn’t find out about myself.”
