Keith Andrews has played down the severity of Igor Thiago’s injury after the striker missed Brentford’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City within the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilian forward has been in excellent form for Brentford this season with 11 goals within the Premier League to this point.

Nonetheless, The Bees were forced to play their Carabao Cup quarter-final tie away to City without each Thiago and Jordan Henderson, who scored within the 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Sunday.

Andrews revealed after the 2-0 defeat to City that Thiago and Henderson were missing as a consequence of ‘knocks’, but suggested the duo are set to be in contention to return for Brentford’s Premier League game against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

‘They didn’t quite make this one but not not far off, so we’ll just see how they’re tomorrow after which we’ll dust ourselves down and see how everyone else is, obviously after a troublesome 90 minutes plus,’ Andrews said.

‘We’ll deal with Wolves once we debrief this within the morning.’

Brentford may even be without Frank Onyeka and Dango Ouattara for his or her trip to Wolves this weekend as they’ve each joined up with the Nigeria and Burkina Faso squads respectively for the Africa Cup of Nations.
