Ayush Mhatre-led India will tackle Vimath Dinsara’s Sri Lanka in the primary semifinal of the U19 Asia Cup, on the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai on Friday. Because the tournament enters its business end, India and arch-rivals Pakistan could face off in the ultimate, mirroring the senior team’s clash in September.
Before that blockbuster encounter, India must get past Sri Lanka, while Pakistan have to overcome Bangladesh, with each games scheduled to be played concurrently.
India have been dominant within the group stage, beating the UAE by 234 runs, Pakistan by 90 runs and Malaysia by 315 runs. Pakistan, alternatively, have only lost to India, registering victories over Malaysia by 294 runs and UAE by 70 runs.
India’s semifinal opponent, Sri Lanka, have played three games, winning two and losing one, while Pakistan’s opponent, Bangladesh, remain unbeaten.
