Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is mismanaging Estevao along with his stop-start appearances, based on former Brazil midfielder Sandro.

Estevao, widely considered to be among the best young players on the planet, arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer from Palmeiras.

Mainly operating with no consideration winger, the 18-year-old has shined within the Champions League this term with three assists across five matches.

But within the Premier League, Estevao has only began six of Chelsea’s 16 games, coming on for just nine minutes against Everton last week, before he was omitted from the squad for the Carabao Cup win over Cardiff.

Ahead of Chelsea’s next fixture against Newcastle on Saturday, Sandro has told Maresca that Estevao ‘must be playing every game he can’.

‘I don’t agree with how Enzo Maresca is managing Estevao at Chelsea,’ Sandro told Boyle Sports, who offer the newest football betting.

‘You could have a tremendous player in Estevao. He has a very good moment and then you definitely stop playing him. He must be playing every game he can.

‘I don’t understand what’s happening to be fair because what he’s showing, the way in which he’s playing, I don’t know what they’re saving him for.

‘Gareth Bale played every game for us at Tottenham. You could have to enjoy these players and these moments.

‘There are ups and downs but come on, you stand the player down and his confidence will go away.

‘Chelsea should manage that higher. He must play. Put him within the team and boom, he’ll play, and that will be good for Chelsea in addition to Brazil.’

Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin, meanwhile, has defended Maresca over Estevao’s playing time – but says it could develop into an issue next season.

‘I feel as a young player you sort of get it,’ Nevin told CasinoHawks. ‘It’s actually a bit easier for the fashionable player because rotation is such a big a part of the sport.

‘Players being rested, rotated, all that form of stuff is just the norm. In times passed by, you most likely had quite a small squad and also you’d higher be able to play because there have been limited options.

‘Now, in fact, you get five substitutes, so that you’ve all the time got a probability to affect the sport, and there’s a game every three or 4 days.

‘So, to be honest, it’s not something I feel should over-concern a young player coming through.

‘In a yr’s time, two years’ time, will he feel the identical? Probably not, and rightly so. Absolutely rightly so. Because while you’re 19, 20, you must be playing each week, when you’re fit. So, it’s not there yet. It’s not a panic yet. It’s not a worry yet.

‘But when he’s playing and improving to the usual he’s able to doing, like Cole Palmer, he’ll expect to begin every week from a few yr from now, I suppose.’
