The Recent York Rangers won’t offer Artemi Panarin a contract extension
Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet: The Recent York Rangers released an announcement that they will retool and never rebuild. GM Chris Drury met with their team leaders individually, after which the team as a complete, in line with sources.
Sources added that Artemi Panarin was told that he won’t be getting an extension offer from the Rangers, and that they’ll work together with his agent, Paul Theofanous, to facilitate a trade, if possible, to wherever he’d wish to go.
Only Artemi Panarin knows where he’d waive a trade too

Johnston: “Well, Panarin, the Rangers are getting closer and closer by the day, I mean, they’re at the underside of the conference as we’re recording this, to where they’re going to must, you realize, I believe commit more fully to being sellers.

Panarin has full control here, and so there’s still a conversation that should occur together with his agent and where he might play. But you realize, you’ll be able to start to have a look at places that make sense. You recognize, places possibly where there’s other Russian players. You recognize, he’s, he’s got to be essentially the most impactful potential player, you realize, available, or that it’s expected to change into available.
But, you realize, it’s hard to know what he’s going to want. Is he, does he can wish to move on? Does he just play this out and go right to free agency? I mean, that’s still not totally clear. I don’t, I don’t think the Rangers have gotten to the purpose where they’re fully selling them just yet. But obviously the, the hawks are circling a bit bit. That it’s pretty clear that the Rangers, you realize, just the season’s been tough there, they usually need type of their very own little reboot, so to talk.
And so, you realize, I don’t think, you realize, any contract talks that I’m with Panarinn didn’t get anywhere too quickly early within the season. So it’s unlikely at this point an extension is coming. And he’s, he’s gonna get one other big money deal, I imagine.
And so, you realize, that’s, that’s type of where things stand. It’s just, only he knows where else he might play this season. Like where he would waive a trade to. And I believe that that’ll come into a bit more clarity as time goes along.
