It might be a giant surprise if PSG boss Luis Enrique was all in favour of working with the ‘clowns’ on the ‘circus of Manchester United,’ believes former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit.

The Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim earlier this month and now Michael Carrick is in interim charge until the tip of the season.

Things have began thoroughly for the previous Manchester United midfielder due to a 2-0 win over Manchester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Carrick is a contender to maintain the job permanently, as are the likes of Oliver Glasner, current England boss Gareth Southgate and former Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate.

Enrique can also be considered a possible goal for the Old Trafford club, but would must be tempted away from Paris Saint-Germain, having won the Champions League with the French side last yr.

The Spaniard is under contract in Paris until 2027 and although Petit can see him leaving the club after that time, he cannot see why he would swap the Parc des Princes for Old Trafford, given the extent of control he would must relinquish in Manchester.

‘Luis Enrique to Man Utd? I do know that Luis Enrique hasn’t signed an extension at PSG, but I’m pretty sure that Luis Enrique is an intelligent guy. He knows perfectly that he cannot achieve anything larger than what he did last season with Paris Saint-Germain,’ Petit told Hochgepokert.

‘The Qatari owners were searching for that for ages and with Luis Enrique, they achieved their dream of winning the Champions League, they were playing brilliantly as well.

‘Now, Luis Enrique knows exactly what he did last season. He cannot repeat it. That’s why he doesn’t wish to sign one other contract with PSG.

‘Should he go to Manchester United? The circus of Manchester United? Do you’re thinking that a man like Luis Enrique would work there? For the reason that Qatari owners arrived at Paris Saint-Germain, they’d never given the ability to their manager.

‘They at all times controlled the dressing room, who was going to be out of the club, who was going to return to the club. Then they gave the ability to Luis Enrique they usually won the Champions League.

‘He has the ability to say, “No, I would like to maintain him. Sell this player. Bring this player.” So if he comes, if he goes to Manchester United, do you’re thinking that that can work with all these clowns behind him at Manchester United?

‘Those guys are saying to the manager, “You need to do that. You need to play this player. Why did you say you want to to get this player? No, no, no, we are usually not focused on him. We’re planning to bring one other player.”

‘Identical to what happened with Enzo Maresca to Chelsea. Are you able to imagine the likes of Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique, Jurgen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti, or Jose Mourinho coming to Manchester United of their current state? Not a likelihood.

‘It’s like they need a puppet, I’d challenge them to go and sit on that bench as an alternative of putting pressure on the manager.

‘If I used to be Luis Enrique and Man Utd wanted me, I might have one condition, to be the manager, not the top coach, he must demand control.

‘Would they agree? I’m undecided about that. Now we have seen how disastrous this club is.’

‘It’s Ineos behind that. And Ineos as well at Nice are doing such bad, bad work. For a similar reason.

‘So good luck for the following manager, Michael Carrick. Good luck to him. Good luck for the following manager as well.

‘They may probably get a brand new manager of course. Why? Because the following manager will get the guarantee to get a lot money. After five months, he will likely be fired and can leave the club with between £10-15 million.’

Responding to rumours that he had turned down a brand new contract at PSG, Enrique said earlier this month: ‘These are rumours that at all times flow into at PSG.

‘We’re used to them, they’re private matters and can remain so. There may be loads of “fake news” and they’ll not destabilise either the players or the team.

‘It’s normal to have talks, but they continue to be private. We all know what we wish, and that’s an important thing. We’re calm and relaxed.’
