Dricus Du Plessis’ head coach blames referee for loss to Khamzat Chimaev as he makes audacious promise

Months faraway from his title loss to Khamzat Chimaev, Dricus Du Plessis’ head coach still has the loss on his mind.

This past August, Dricus Du Plessis suffered an especially dominant loss against Khamzat Chimaev within the UFC 319 essential event which was an extended time within the making.

Since then, ‘Stillknocks’ has been somewhat quiet regarding his potential return to the Octagon, after it was suggested he switches weight class as a substitute of chasing a rematch against ‘Borz’.

Nonetheless, his outspoken head coach Morne Visser still has the fight on his mind, and he has blamed the loss on veteran referee, Marc Goddard.

Is there anyone who can beat Khamzat Chimaev?

Morne Visser blames Marc Goddard for loss as he makes rematch promise

Not long before their fight on August 16, Visser bizarrely went in on Chimaev, labelling him as ‘one-dimensional’, claiming that Du Plessis would ‘f— him up at his own game’.

After all, his comments went on to completely backfire on him as Du Plessis was embarrassed for five rounds, showcasing the sheer gap of their grappling abilities.

And now months faraway from their title loss, Visser has blamed the loss on the third man who was within the cage, Goddard.

“We weren’t prepared for a man who’s not willing to fight, because really, he didn’t need to fight,” Visser told Fight Forecast.

“If we knew he was gonna do this, I might’ve modified Dricus’ base, no punches, no kicks, just wrestle the guy, and Dricus is nice enough to try this… When he kept Dricus on the ground, he never desired to fight… (Goddard) should’ve stood that fight up persistently,” he continued.

Following his win over ‘Stillknocks’ it is probably going that ‘Borz’ will defend his title against Nassourdine Imavov next.

And although Du Plessis likely has a approach to go before he’s given one other middleweight title shot, Visser has claimed that they’ve already begun making changes to find a way to beat Chimaev in a rematch.

“We’ve learned a hell of quite a bit… This time around, he’s gonna get f—– up. He’s got zero likelihood against Dricus likelihood within the standup, he’s got zero likelihood against Dricus within the clinch, his only likelihood is to maintain us on the ground, in order that’s the one thing we’d like to repair.”

Who could Du Plessis fight next to get back into title contention?

The middleweight division is filled with latest contenders near the highest of the division and in only over a months’ time, an enormous fight will go down between Sean Strickland and Anthony Hernandez.

With it likely that the winner of that fight will fight the winner of Chimaev vs Imavov, that leaves Du Plessis with only a couple of options.

And probably the most intriguing option for him currently is Brendan Allen, who’s riding a two-fight win streak over Marvin Vettori and Reinier De Ridder.
