Sunil Pal Recalls Throwing Up Watching Sunil Grover Dress As A Woman On The Kapil Sharma’s Show

Comedian Sunil Pal recently shared his thoughts on his peers Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover. When asked in regards to the current landscape of Indian comedy and which comedians remain popular, Sunil said that Kapil and Sunil Grover proceed to remain relevant because they continually reinvent themselves. Nevertheless, he also mentioned having one issue with Sunil Grover.

Sunil Pal Threw Up Watching Sunil Grover As Gutthi/ Rinku Bhabhi

During a podcast with Siddharth Kannan, Sunil Pal stated, “It’s been 21 years. It’s human nature to want change. You could have to simply accept change over time; otherwise, you may get stuck in a routine and turn out to be limited. Each Naveen Prabhakar and Ahsaan Qureshi became targets of this because they didn’t evolve, for my part.”

He further added, “Within the last 40 years, the just one who truly embodied his era and inspired change is Johny Lever. I’m a loyal fan of his. Other than him, I see a robust force in Kapil Sharma—he’s also modified himself. Sunil Grover, too, has evolved. Over the past 20 years, I’ve seen only about five performers adapt and grow. Most others still depend on market jokes, old mimicry, or haven’t tried anything recent.”

Sunil Pal also reflected on his early profession experiences, saying, “We worked together rather a lot back then. His acting as a girl used to make me uncomfortable—I even threw up once just by taking a look at it. Wearing women’s costumes feels icky to me; I imagine that’s not the appropriate method to do comedy. That said, I’m a fan of his work. I do know some comedians earn crores through vulgarity and abuse, and I had that option too earlier,” he concluded.

For individuals who may not know, Sunil Grover is renowned for his comedic sketches portraying female characters, most famously Gutthi and Rinku Bhabhi, on Kapil Sharma’s show.
