Shane Wright’s name is on the market if the Seattle Kraken could land a scorer
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman said the Seattle Kraken are searching for a scoring winger, and so they’ve put Shane Wright’s name on the market to possibly land one. Despite things not figuring out in addition to either side had hoped, they still value him as a high first-round pick. The identical could be said for Alexis Lafreniere. What a few swap?

Matt Marchese: “Yet one more before we allow you to go here. Have you ever heard Shane Wright’s name on the market as a possible trade chip for Seattle?”
Friedman: “Yeah, that’s accurate. Yes. Like that, that report was correct. That’s accurate. I, I almost didn’t imagine it after I first heard it, but since it was just so surprising. But that’s not incorrect. He’s on the market.
You realize, we talked on the pod today with, like a Wright for (Alexis) Lafreniere deal make any sense? Does that make any sense? Seattle has never had like a scorer, like a young scorer. And I believe they feel, in the event that they, Wright’s a young center. Centers are invaluable. I believe if they may get a scorer.
NHL Rumors: Latest York Rangers Want Three Pieces Back in Artemi Panarin Trade
Like, to be honest, I used to be wondering, the very first thing that jumped into my head was, would they fight to do it with the Rangers for (Artemi) Panarin? But I’m not convinced Panarin would try this.
So I just, I type of wanted to change, like they’re searching for a scorer. And you understand, Wright has had his battles there in Seattle to seek out his, to carve out his spot. Lafreniere is having some battles to carve out his role within the Rangers. I don’t understand how the 2 teams feel about that, but just pop in my head like that’s one that might, that might make sense.
Marchese: “I mean, Shane Wright’s not the one guy that’s had trouble finding his scoring touch in Seattle. That appears to be an ongoing problem period. But he does feel like a chief guy, you understand, different locale might change the trajectory just a little bit here. What do you’re thinking that the perceived value is for him? Like, he’s still obviously a really young player.”
Friedman: “It will be high like, you understand, that’s the one thing. Like teams say, like, that is like, teams say, ‘This can be a guy who was a high pick.’ Like, I do know there’s some Rangers fans who’re really down on Lefreniere, and so they say, ‘The Rangers should deal him.’ Rangers are going to say, ‘Like, this guy is a primary overall pick. We’re not only giving him away. We’d reasonably keep him and take a look at to repair it than give him away.’
And I believe the identical thing is for Wright? Like, obviously, he’s struggling to seek out a task there. I looked it up yesterday, he’s tenth in Seattle forwards in ice time. He averaged, he played nine minutes the opposite night. Like obviously, they’re struggling to seek out a way, but he’s still the fourth overall pick just a number of years ago.
So the value goes to be high, very high. They usually’re going to say we would like a comparable young player or something that’s a invaluable package. In order that’s what, that’s why that whole like that Wright for Lafreniere thing, whether it’s true or not, or feasible or not. It’s, it’s interesting to me, since you’ve got two young guys, are struggling of their place. They’re each high picks.
NHL Rumors: Have Things Modified for Dougie Hamilton and the Latest Jersey Devils?
Like, it’ll inform you a story, and the GM wouldn’t tell me the name. He said that there’s, there’s a former first-round draft pick that was, like a first-round draft pick, like, years ago. Okay, who’s available right away? He just didn’t work out in his current situation. And it teams like, ‘Hey, we’re trading this guy. He was a first-round pick. And this manager was telling me, that guy was a first-round pick, like five years ago.
And but like, that’s the best way people take a look at it. And Wight is newer than that, and LaFreniere is newer than that. They usually were, as a one pick and a 4 pick. Like those, like these teams, even when those players are struggling, they are usually not releasing, relinquishing their grips on those guys easily.”
