Lending her voice to the conversation, actress and performer Amruta Khanvilkar expressed concern, empathy and a balanced perspective on safety, responsibility and dignity.
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Amruta Khanvilkar calls the incident ‘disgraceful,’ while praising Mouni for handling the situation with grace and composure. Read on to know all that she shared.
Amruta Khanvilkar Stands For Mouni Roy
Speaking concerning the incident, Amruta Khanvilkar didn’t draw back from acknowledging how upsetting the situation sounded while extending her support to Mouni. She said, “Firstly, it’s such a nasty thing and disgraceful thing that has happened. My heart goes out to her, firstly. And secondly, I feel any artist who takes up any work, aur agar aap 2-tier, 3-tier cities ki ya jagaho ki baat kar rahe ho, I believe every artist also must care for their very own security and every little thing. And I’m sure unhone bhi aisa kiya hoga, and it’s essential to know aap kaha jaa rahe ho kaunsi jagah jaa rahe ho, it’s essential to have your entire information, aur fir bhi agar aapke saath aisa koi haadsa hota hai.”
Highlighting Mouni’s long-standing professionalism and stage experience, Amruta added that such incidents, although unlucky, can sometimes occur unexpectedly. She continued, “I’m sure she should be, and she or he has been performing for the longest time that I actually have seen her, and she or he is such a superb performer, par kabhi kabhi aise kuch cheez ho jaati hai. I don’t think it’s essential to, ek incident ye hua hai, which I’m sure unhone bhi bohot gracefully woh handle kiya, I’m sure unhone apni dignity nahi gawayi, and she or he walked off the stage. I believe it was a really dignified and a superb move.”
Amruta Khanvilkar Provides Balanced Perspective
Amruta also maintained that one should avoid forming conclusions without knowing every detail and mustn’t single out cities or regions based on isolated incidents. She shared, “Mujhe toh ye incident pata bhi nahi hai, aap mujhe bata rahe ho uss hisaab se important agar aapko bataun, toh aisi cheeze jab hoti hai, I believe it’s essential to know either side of it; you can not comment on only one section of it. I’m very, very sorry that something of this disgrace needed to occur to her and she or he needed to walk off.”
She further stressed that unlucky incidents can occur anywhere and shouldn’t be used to label a selected place or its people. Amruta said, “But I’m sure ki woh bahut jagah perform karti hai and she or he has had nice experiences also. So, kahi par ye hua hai isiliye ek sheher ka aap naam badnaam nahi kar sakte. And I feel it’s not right to say ki ye 2-tier mein hota hai, ya 3-tier mein hota hai. Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki agar koi haadsa hona hai toh kahi par bhi ho sakta hai, and we should always not pinpoint ye region, ye city, yaha ke log.”
Amruta Khanvilkar Recalls Her Time On Stage
Drawing from her own experiences as a live performer, Amruta added that she has all the time felt secure while performing across various regions. She shared, “Important Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur ya fir interiors of Maharashtra jaake perform karti hoon, aaj tak mere saath aisa kabhi nahi hua hai. Even jab important laavni perform karti hoon tab bhi aisa koi haadsa nahi hua hai. Something has happened to someone like Mouni Roy. My heart really goes out to her. I’m really, really sorry, but to place a city or a region into this, it’s not right.”
Overall, Amruta emphasised the importance of setting boundaries, respecting artists, and responding with dignity in difficult moments, while also advocating for fairness and perspective in public discourse.
What Happened With Mouni Roy At The Haryana Wedding?
During a recent wedding performance in Haryana, Mouni Roy reportedly faced inappropriate behaviour from just a few individuals in the gang, which made her visibly uncomfortable. As a substitute of escalating the situation, the actress lost her calm and flipped the accused and selected to step away from the stage, prioritising her dignity and private safety. Her response and confrontation to the subject sparked a crucial conversation around performer safety, public boundaries, and accountability during live events.
