Rosé Had To Wear A ‘Grandma Disguise’ To Go Visit Her ‘Toxic’ Ex

In a candid latest interview, Rosé has opened up about her experience with what she describes as a toxic relationship, revealing the teachings she has learned about boundaries and self-worth because of this.

The BLACKPINK star reflected on the intense lengths she was forced to go to, including wearing a wig and disguising herself as an elderly woman simply to travel to her partner’s house.

Rosé’s interview comes amid a serious profession milestone: three Grammy Award nominations for her hit song “APT.” featuring Bruno Mars.

Rosé sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Alex Cooper on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

Cooper traveled to Seoul to film the episode, which is billed as “A Grammy Special” on the show’s official YouTube channel.

While discussing the challenges of being a globally recognized icon, Rosé revealed that her camouflage routine was often very fastidiously planned.

“I got a wig,” she explained. “I got a black curly wig, like a brief one.”

After that, the Australian-born star deliberately observed how older women dressed as a way to mimic their style. “I studied how elderly women would dress on the road and [then] I’d order it,” Rosé said.

For many high-profile celebrities, taking extreme measures to avoid being swarmed or bothered in public spaces often comes with the territory.

In Rosé’s case, nonetheless, she now looks back on that period when she needed to travel in disguise as one through which she was being ‘gaslit’ in regards to the supposed dos and don’ts of dating as a star.

“With that guy, he was overly like ‘No, we are able to’t do anything, we will not go anywhere,’” she recalled. “I used to be so gaslighted.”

Rosé has never shied away from speaking publicly about love, even telling Paper Magazine that she had passed through “just a few relationships like a standard girl in her 20s.”

Despite that openness, the South Korean singer has never publicly announced any of her relationships. Through the interview, Cooper was curious why that has been the case.

Rosé explained that her decision is rooted in keeping people who she loves protected from the tough realities of celebrity life.

“I feel a number of it has to do [with] protect[ing] the person who I really like,” she said.

Rosé hinted at past experiences through which people near her faced public backlash, explaining how deeply that affected her.

“I’ve noticed that the closer the person is, in the event that they’re ever attacked, it really, really is hurtful,” she said.

Rosé has already achieved a number of things that many individuals will probably only ever dream of.

The one thing she wishes she could have is the power to be herself in public spaces, but she acknowledges that this is nearly unimaginable for somebody of her global profile.

When asked by Cooper what she would do if she could achieve complete anonymity in public, Rosé admitted that her dream was to easily walk freely in a theme park.

“My dream for a very long time, from after I was I feel a youngster, [I] dreamed of going to a theme park with a boyfriend and never must give it some thought,” she said.

Despite discussing some difficult facets of her past, Rosé appeared relaxed throughout her interview on “Call Her Daddy.”

Following her recent Grammy recognition, the chart-topping artist reflected on how the milestone mirrored an earlier defining moment in her profession.

In 2012, Rosé topped a 700-person audition to affix YG Entertainment and relocated to Seoul.

“I feel getting chosen from YG at that open audition to fly to Korea… I feel it’s the identical feeling as this nomination,” Rosé explained. “I believed that might never occur.”
