Despite the fact that I’m mostly among the many believers who think that AJ Styles is losing to GUNTHER on the Royal Rumble tomorrow, I liked the promo he cut tonight on “SmackDown,” and I actually appreciated the actual fact he and GUNTHER were each on the show. “SmackDown” is the home that Styles built, to be fair, and he and GUNTHER didn’t look misplaced in any respect.
If the blue brand goes to proceed to be three hours long every Friday, there is no reason why WWE should not be putting stars from each brands on the ultimate go-home show to big premium live events, especially this one, where all of the talent needed to fly all over the world to Saudi Arabia.
And, while I’m (again, mostly) within the camp of believing Styles’ WWE profession is completed as of tomorrow, I’m ever-so-slightly shaky on that prediction, as I could see each ways, and on this promo, Styles did his best to persuade fans that he shall be occurring a retirement tour in any case, one that does not stop with “The Ring General.” Styles told fans to not be fearful about tomorrow, he will knock GUNTHER’s teeth down his throat and that’s what’s going to kick off the “Phenomenal Farewell Tour.” He mentioned wanting another match with the likes of Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, in addition to CM Punk when the group chanted his name.
This was also the primary promo, I consider, that GUNTHER promised to make Styles tap tomorrow. Which, Styles had an ideal comeback to, bringing things all full circle, when he said that last time he checked, it was GUNTHER who tapped out “like just a little b****.” That did not exactly help to make anything more clear for me as to how this goes tomorrow, as Styles was pretty convincing in his argument that he made GUNTHER tap first. I’ll admit, that is one time I do not mind being unsure as to how things are going to go.
Either we get GUNTHER’s “Profession Killer” strengthened even further tomorrow, or we someway get a John Cena-esque retirement tour for Styles. I feel I will be fantastic with either option, but whether it is the top for Styles in WWE, he a minimum of made a fantastic attempt tonight to persuade us all that it is not. On a go-home show where not much exciting happened, an appearance by Styles to say his piece before what may be his final moment in the corporate was a welcomed addition.
