Police in Germany arrived at a nightclub last night to seek out dozens of clubgoers struggling to breathe after someone pepper-sprayed the dance floor.

The nightclub in Bremervorde was evacuated after someone began spraying the chemical around 1am.

38 people were injured, and eight were taken to the hospital for further treatment after the chaos unfolded.

When police arrived, the club had already been evacuated, and dozens of partiers were struggling to breathe and see.

German media said the character and severity of the injuries are still being assessed, but police said a lot of the injured are coping with minor injuries.

Officers need to speak to witnesses as they seek for the person responsible.
