Alexander Volkanovski is confused by the recent behaviour of the favored featherweight contender who hopes to sneak into the subsequent title fight.
This past Saturday, the premier MMA promotion returned to Sydney, Australia, for UFC 325 headlined by a featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes.
The 37-year-old kicked off his second 145lb title reign with one other dominant decision win over the Brazilian contender who he beat under a 12 months ago, furthering his legacy as the best featherweight of all time.
And having gotten his rematch with Lopes out of the best way, Volkanovski is now excited concerning the options ahead of him for his next title defense.

A record-tying win for Alexander Volkanovski, who does he fight now?
Volkanovski confused by recent comments from Jean Silva
For his UFC 325 fight camp, Alexander ‘The Great’ welcomed in the assistance of exciting lightweight contender Mauricio Ruffy, who was a part of the favored ‘Fighting Nerds’.
And for some reason, that didn’t sit well with featherweight contender, Jean Silva, who unfollowed his teammate Ruffy on social media.
To make matters much more confusing, following Volkanovski’s win over Lopes, Silva took to social media to declare that he’s going to participate in a training camp with former champion, Ilia Topuria, who knocked out Volkanovski.
“I do know that Volkanovski is asking for (Movsar) Evloev, I don’t know why he’s asking for the blokes who cannot hurt. Sorry to tell you, if you would like to stay good without getting hurt, I understand you, but when you would like to fight a man who hits hard, I’m your guy.
“And I’ll inform you more, I’m going there to fight camp with Ilia Topuria to interrupt you, I’ll warn you,” he said.
Volkanovski discovered about Silva’s claim in the course of the UFC 325 post-fight press conference and it’s fair to say, he was extremely confused concerning the Brazilian’s comments.
“Oh, he said that? Oh, okay. I feel he’s a bit upset concerning the Ruffy thing, but I mean like, I don’t think it was anything greater than the incontrovertible fact that you’ve got Ruffy who is a component of Engage, we connected through that.
“We did a bit of coaching and clearly he’s a superb guy, an incredible guy, one in every of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and I desired to work with him.
“I feel Jean Silva took that to heart… It shouldn’t be like that… I don’t know why he’s getting so butthurt about that.”

Could Jean Silva sneak right into a featherweight title fight?
Despite having only picked up one win since his crushing loss to Lopes last 12 months, Silva remains to be ranked contained in the top eight at featherweight.
And although Volkanovski would love to fight Movsar Evloev next, the promotion is seemingly planning on putting on a fight between Evloev and Lerone Murphy.
Considering the incontrovertible fact that the UFC clearly aren’t fans of Evloev’s fight style, Silva could find himself benefitting from that by sneaking into the subsequent title fight.
