Jenny McCarthy is a force to be reckoned with. She’s an actress, a model, an creator, and an activist who has gone from hosting her own talk show, “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” to being a judge on Fox’s reality guessing game show, “The Masked Singer.” But, behind the scenes, she has handled some pretty serious health struggles which have forced her to re-examine her weight loss plan with the intention to ease her symptoms.

Jenny McCarthy Opens Up About Her Weight loss program Amid Health Struggles
In a March 2025 episode of the “Heal Squad” podcast, McCarthy told host Maria Menounos that she “literally almost died” after following a vegan weight loss plan. “I became so ailing from being a vegan,” she said on the time. “I attempted vegan, and I almost died. I literally almost died.”
McCarthy went on to disclose that she suffers from Celiac disease, which suggests she needs to be careful about what she eats. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder where gluten, a protein in wheat, barley, and rye, triggers the immune system to attack the small intestine, stopping the body from absorbing nutrients.

McCarthy Reveals She Had A ‘Gluten And Dairy Problem’
Her diagnosis led her to find that she didn’t just have an issue with gluten, but dairy as well. It led her to rethink her weight loss plan, which led to her eliminating carbohydrates from her weight loss plan.
“I didn’t know I had a gluten and dairy problem. I assumed everyone got sick after they ate,” McCarthy said, based on PEOPLE magazine. “I can’t have carbs, and every little thing is a carb.”
Unfortunately, her food allergies didn’t stop there. “I’m also, like, allergic to soy and every little thing — I used to be literally dying,” she continued. “I used to be exhausted and fatigued. I used to be a large number.”

Jenny McCarthy Went On A Carnivore Weight loss program

From there, McCarthy went on what she called “my last resort weight loss plan.” The weight loss plan, commonly known as the carnivore weight loss plan, is an especially restrictive weight loss plan that involves eating only animal products like meat, fish, seafood, eggs, and a few dairy products like butter.
After starting the weight loss plan, McCarthy said that she felt “felt very low vibrational, heavy. I used to be more eating salmon and doing light things like that, but I’d as well give it a try.”
Though she said it was a “last resort,” she did admit that it was working for her. “It has been f-cking incredible for me,” she said. “Again, I stress things as for me.”

McCarthy Opens Up On Her Bathroom Habits
Although she has seen a “huge energy” boost since going carnivore, she admitted that she doesn’t plan to remain on the restrictive weight loss plan for long. Nonetheless, it has also helped her in the toilet.
“I literally go on daily basis with no laxative. I used to be living on seven to 10 aloe pills a day, simply to go every 4 days,” she divulged. A number of months later, in May 2025, she discussed her bathroom habits in a separate PEOPLE magazine interview.
“And I’m sorry if this is just too TMI, but I used to be a sophisticated one that only went to the toilet once every 14 days,” she said, admitting that her constipation got so bad that her functional medicine doctor told her she might need a colostomy bag.

The ‘Gross’ Foods She Eats On The Carnivore Weight loss program

McCarthy admitted that she was initially “against” the thought of a meat-only weight loss plan. “I used to be so against it, but my doctor was like, you’ve got tried every little thing but this, so you are going carnivore,” she explained. “I’ve got to let you know, it saved my gut. I am going to the toilet each day now — and it made me feel like I used to be 25 again.”
Along with including avocado in her weight loss plan for “fiber,” she also revealed the “gross” food that she’s come to like. “I mostly had grass-fed beef, sometimes grass-fed kidneys and liver mixed together, which sounds gross, but you’ll be able to’t tell,” she said before further elaborating on her symptoms.
“I actually have a lot form of sh-t incorrect with me,” she confessed. “I’m like, I actually have Hashimoto’s, Candida, leaky gut, celiac disease, and a histamine intolerance.”
Although going carnivore has allowed her to administer her symptoms, she admitted, “You may’t half-ass” the weight loss plan. She went on to say, “But when I showed you an image of my face from even a 12 months ago, it is so different. I didn’t realize how swollen I used to be on a regular basis.”
