Jana Nagayan CBFC Controversy: Vijay Thalapathy Starrer Producers Withdraw Plea Before Madras HC After Approaching Censor Board Committee

The legal petition filed by Jana Nayagan producers within the Madras High Court has been officially withdrawn; the makers withdraw the plea today. As an alternative of continuous their legal battle over censorship, the producers have opted to resolve the problem through executive channels. The court permitted KVN Productions to withdraw its writ petition against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on February 10, 2026.

Vijay Thalapathy’s Jana Nayagan Producers Withdraw Plea Before Madras HC

The producers plan to submit the film to the CBFC Revising Committee for review, moving away from further judicial intervention. The controversy surrounding Jana Nayagan began when the CBFC Chairman raised significant objections, resulting in the postponement of the film’s release, originally scheduled for January 9. The objections centred on two primary issues: the portrayal of “foreign powers fueling religious conflict” and the depiction of the Indian Army.

This withdrawal marks a vital step, because the film must now clear the Revising Committee before it may well hit theatres. While an official release date has not been announced, industry insiders and fans speculate that the film will premiere in late February or March, following the ultimate certification from the Revising Committee.

The stakes are especially high for this release, as Jana Nayagan is ready to be Vijay’s final film before transitioning into full-time politics together with his newly launched party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). With all legal hurdles now cleared, the CBFC Revising Committee will make the ultimate decision. Fans and viewers eagerly await Vijay’s last acting role before he embarks on his political journey, which will probably be confirmed once the committee grants its certification.
