Margot Robbie was quick to place a rude former co-star in his place.
During a recent conversation with Charli xcx for Complex, the Oscar-nominated actress and producer recalled a male castmember from a past project gifting her a book about eating less food.
“Very, very early in my profession, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called French Women Don’t Get Fat, and it was essentially a book telling you to eat less,” she said. “And I used to be like, whoa, fuck you, dude.”
Robbie added, “He essentially gave me a book to let me know that I should shed pounds. I used to be like, ‘Wow.’” She also noted that she has “no idea where he would even be now.”
The book in query, written by Mireille Guiliano, was originally published in 2004 and centers on French eating habits and moderation.
While Robbie opted out of naming the male actor or the project they were working on together, she has gone on to make quite a reputation for herself in Hollywood. A few of her most notable roles include The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Suicide Squad (2016), I, Tonya (2017), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), Bombshell (2019), Babylon (2022) and Barbie (2023).
She’s also earned three Oscar nominations, including best leading actress for I, Tonya, best supporting actress for Bombshell and best picture for Barbie.
Robbie next stars opposite Jacob Elordi within the Emerald Fennell-directed Wuthering Heights, which hits theaters on Friday. The filmmaker previously told British Vogue why she knew the actress was the apparent alternative for the role of Cathy.
“Cathy is a star,” Fennell said on the time. “She’s wilful, mean, a recreational sadist, a provocateur. She engages in cruelty in a way that’s disturbing and engaging. It was about finding someone who you’ll forgive regardless of yourself, someone who literally everyone on the planet would understand why you like her. It’s difficult to seek out that supersized star power. Margot comes with big dick energy. That’s what Cathy needs.”
