Arsenal prospect Charles Sagoe Jr is taking a novel profession path as he heads to Sweden to hitch Kalmar FF on a season-long loan.
The 21-year-old has been with the Gunners for 10 years, joining from Fulham at 11 years old.
The winger has made only one solitary appearance in the primary team, starting within the League Cup against Brentford in September 2023.
Since then he has spent loan spells at Swansea City within the Championship and Shrewsbury Town in League One, but continues to be waiting to attain his first senior goal.
He’ll hope to finish that wait with Kalmar, as he joins the Swedish club for his or her 2026/27 season, which starts with the Svenska Cupen this month, before the Allsvenskan (Swedish top flight) begins in April and runs till November.
Speaking out on the bizarre next step in his profession, Sagoe Jr said: ‘It feels great to be here and I’m really excited to start, start training and get to know my latest teammates.
‘I’m looking forward to showing my qualities on the pitch and helping to win matches. That is step for me and my continued profession.

‘After the conversations with the sports director and the management staff, I got a robust feeling that this was the best environment for me. Now I need to benefit from the chance and help the team achieve good leads to Allsvenskan.’
Kalmar’s sports director, Mats Winblad, said: ‘Great that he’s finally in place!
‘Charles is a player now we have followed for a very long time. He may be very athletic, has really good speed and likes to drive the ball at high speed and challenge his opponent.

‘Now he’s moving into training and hopefully we are going to see him in the sport already on Saturday against IFK Norrköping.’
Sagoe Jr has spent the season up to now playing for Arsenal Under-21s, but talked up the potential for one other loan move last month.
Chatting with GOAL, he said: ‘I’m obviously going to talk to people to see what the perfect thing is for me. I’ve had loan experiences out at Swansea and Shrewsbury and so they’re learning curves, really.

‘It’s a difficult environment going outside your comfort zone once you’ve been at Arsenal for such an extended time in your profession.
‘Going some place else is all the time difficult to adapt to the playing style that the team is perhaps playing. But when you hit the bottom running and also you start getting appearances under your name, you’re just going to construct confidence.
‘It’s a extremely good opportunity going out on loan to men’s environments where every game matters. But [for now] I’m just going to maintain my head down in training and keep working hard and applying myself.’
