Not everyone has been impressed by Ilia Topuria’s perfect UFC run.
The UFC lightweight champion has been on a brutal streak contained in the Octagon en path to title glory in two separate weight classes, and ‘El Matador’ is coming off among the finest three-fight runs in UFC history.
After knocking out Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway at featherweight, Topuria viciously slept Charles Oliveira last June to capture the crown at 155 kilos.
Despite all three of those legends winning big fights since, Shara Magomedov believes that streak and the victories that got here before it for the Spanish star are nothing to jot down home about.

Shara Magomedov criticizes Ilia Topuria’s quality of UFC competition
Not many have been taking aim at Topuria’s UFC résumé, and a few have as an alternative been backing him to realize GOAT status within the promotion if he can proceed his dominant winning form.
Magomedov evidently sees things in another way, having recently downplayed the lightweight king’s quality of opposition contained in the Octagon while talking to @metammaplus.
“He’s fighter on his own, but when you have a look at how he got to the belt, there have been 4 or five fights against questionable opponents,” Magomedov said (h/t Red Corner MMA).
“And when he fought really serious fighters, they were already worn out. Charles Oliveira was worn out, I feel.
“Max Holloway was a tricky opponent, but he’s not the identical as before,” he continued. “He’s taken quite a lot of damage in his profession and sort of slowed down. Alexander Volkanovski was also not at the identical level he was.”

Shara Magomedov’s one UFC loss got here against 38-year-old Michael ‘Venom’ Page
Topuria has yet to reply to Magomedov’s dismissive remarks, but he may accomplish that by referencing the Dagestani’s setback contained in the Octagon.
Unlike the Spaniard, ‘Bullet’ shouldn’t be undefeated within the UFC. After 4 wins within the promotion brought him to 15-0 in the game, Magomedov lost to Michael ‘Venom’ Page at UFC Saudi Arabia in February 2025.
Along with being on the back end of his profession, the 38-year-old English striker was making only his second profession middleweight appearance and his first in 12 years.
