JD Pardo is the most recent addition to the MGM+ prequel series “Bosch: Start of Watch,” Variety has learned.
Pardo joins previously announced series leads Cameron Monaghan, Omari Hardwick, and Ariana Guerra. The show will follow a young Harry Bosch, played by Monaghan, in his rookie days within the LAPD.
“Bosch: Start of Watch” will happen in 1991 Los Angeles. The official logline states, “The series will explore a city on the sting, teeming with racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured LAPD. Amid routine calls and growing unrest, Bosch finds himself drawn right into a high-profile heist and an online of criminal corruption that may test his loyalty to the badge and shape his future because the detective who lives by the code, ‘Everybody counts or no one counts.’”
Pardo will play Cory, who’s described as “a superb, disciplined skilled thief whose calm precision was forged within the foster system, where he learned early how you can read people, anticipate danger, and stay on top of things. Raised alongside his younger surrogate brother, Bosch, Cory developed a fierce loyalty to the family he selected. Confident, calculating, and methodical, he acts as provider and protector – every job is a step toward mastering the chaos that shaped him, and earning a way out of Los Angeles.”
Pardo is best known for enjoying Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes in the favored FX series “Mayans M.C.,” a task he played for five seasons. Pardo also made his directorial debut on the show, helming the fourth episode of the fifth season. His other TV roles include “Drive,” “East Los High,” “Revolution,” “The Terminal List,” and “High Potential.” In film, Pardo starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal within the Amazon remake of “Road House” and has appeared in other features like “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” and “F9: The Fast Saga.”

“Bosch: Start of Watch” is predicated on Michael Connelly’s Det. Harry Bosch books, which spawned the unique series. Production will begin in Los Angeles later this yr.
Tom Bernardo (“Bosch,” “Bosch: Legacy”) and Brian Anthony (“Bosch: Legacy,” “FBI”) are the co-creators and executive producers on the series, with Bernardo also serving as showrunner. Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin, and Jasmine Russ also function executive producers. Theresa Snider serves as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures.
